Young tightened guys in uniform, with square jaws and fleshy nodules, almost bursting with the desire to serve their native country. They are smart, but their intellectual abilities are aimed at most of the time at the most effective solution to the combat mission. They are humane and do not cut the throats of prisoners, but do not lead with the enemy of negotiations. Real military – beautiful, hefty. But they live very hard for them, and not at all because of a dangerous profession: if you believe SLANT SIX Games , The main problem of any special forces is how to fulfill a mission without entangled in your own pockets.

The depth of our depths

Socom really wants to seem a tactical shooter. It was once: eight years ago, when the series made his debut Slots Muse sister sites on PS2, it was generally accepted that the prefix “tactical” suggests a very serious face, a million opportunities and cunning gadgets in the pockets of the fighters. However, in the second half of the two thousandth it turned out that consoles for such projects are not very suitable. If only because the buttons on the gamepad are much smaller than on the keyboard – while the hero is trying to remove the machine gun and get a grenade, a dozen new (bullet) holes appear in his body. Experiments and simplifications began, as a result of which tactical shooters in their original form today remained only on the RS (see. Arma 2 ).

But the creators of Socom held to the last. More in Fireteam Bravo 2 (2007 crop) it was possible to move standing, squatting and in plastun, change the shooting regime of each weapon, cause air support and give orders to a partner. But the player still had only ten buttons at the disposal of only ten pieces, plus an analog stick. As a result, it was necessary to remember a huge number of combinations (at least two functions were suspended for each key), the player was constantly confused in them, puffed and swearing.

The curiosity is that in fact, Socom is not a tactical, but the most ordinary action from a third person with a bunch of completely extra functions. The team of special forces (in the previous part there were two of them, now four) is planted on a spacious, but, in fact, linear level and rushing ahead, cleaning the area. You can, of course, throw grenades, use sniper rifles and remove patrols silently, but all this is a whim. The enemies are stupid hopelessly and look like a crowd of frightened gymnasiums, however, well -armed. They stupidly jump from one column to another (and well at least so – in the second part the enemy could lay “in the shelter” in the middle of a clean field), they love to run directly to the player, shooting from the hips, and in case of extreme danger – they hide around the corner and hide around the corner They are taken concentratedly to look at the deaf wall opposite, pretending that what is happening does not concern.

The moron opponents and the obvious layout of the levels do their job: to plan a battle and work carefully at all to nothing. Auto -priority allows you to detect the enemy at a decent distance, there are enough shelters, and partners shoot surprisingly aptly. At the standard level of complexity, in principle, you can not open fire at all, but sit out behind the stumps, occasionally resurrecting the fallen comrades (especially since the first -aid kit was required for this, and now they are abolished and health is automatically restored).

Another argument in favor of running forward and not thinking about anything is a knitted interface. To the third part, they certainly seriously worked on him: they cut off all the excess (like the same support from the air), worked on management and brought into compliance with modern standards a system for returning orders. It’s not easier from this: of course, you can press one button to send one of the subordinates to the nearest hill so that it covers with sniper fire, but for this you will have to suffer with the camera for a long time (you can’t look up and down while moving, you need to switch to aiming mode), and there are no guarantees that the fighter will be able to correctly fulfill the task – with quick wits the partners are also trouble. About what tricks you have to go to throw a grenade, it is better to keep silent at all.

Be sure to bang

However, do not despair: it is quite possible to find the approach to Socom. Indeed, the developers did not take care of the competent AI and failed to come up with a single truly interesting game situation (in all eight missions, only two classes are proposed: to run and shoot). But they left us a lot of opportunities in order to entertain ourselves on our own. Singing terrorist terrorists is too easy? Try to quietly shoot them from a pistol with a silencer or sneak up and cut it with a knife – for this they will give bonus glasses, for which you can buy a new under -barrel grenade launcher or a laser sight. Tired of endless assaults? Look for an alternative route to the goal (the game is linear, but at each level there are hare paths that will help to approach the enemy from where he is least waiting for this). Too lazy to do everything yourself? Determine the tactical interface and try to make dirty work with the hands of subordinates.

Finally, if you manage to find three friends, you can go through the campaign in cooperative mode – and here the scope for experiments becomes even wider. You can divide and go to the enemy on both sides, you can synchronously shoot opponents from sniper rifles (so as not to raise an alarm) and distribute roles in the team, respectively, the armaments of the fighters. In general, make real special forces out of themselves.

Compared to the previous Socom PSP version, Fireteam Bravo 3 is a big step forward.
